Consolideth: the tool to consolidate your Ethereum validators after the Pectra upgrade

The arrival of the Pectra upgrade on Ethereum opened the door to increasing the effective balance of the traditional 32 ETH up to 2048 ETH per validator, and with it, to the consolidation of validators.
To help operators take advantage of this feature, at Stakely we’ve created Consolideth, a tool designed for those looking to optimize their infrastructure and reduce operational complexity.
Consolideth: the easiest way to consolidate your Ethereum validators
Introducing Consolideth, a solution that allows you to merge multiple 32 ETH Ethereum validators into a single validator, with a maximum limit of 2048 ETH.
A tool designed for operators with technical experience in managing multiple Ethereum validators who are looking to optimize their infrastructure.
Available for both the Ethereum mainnet and the Hoodi testnet, Consolideth lets you complete the entire process safely, quickly, and through a simple interface—provided you have prior experience.
What can you do with Consolideth?
Consolideth is a web application that allows you to:
- View all validators associated with your connected wallet.
- Upgrade your withdrawal credentials from 0x01 to 0x02 directly from the interface.
- Select multiple source validators and merge them into a single destination validator, optimizing your validator infrastructure.
How does Consolideth work step by step?
Connect your wallet to view your validator data:
Consolideth supports MetaMask, Rabby, WalletConnect, Coinbase Wallet, and more coming soon.Review the validators linked to your wallet and upgrade any with 0x01 credentials to continue:
The upgrade from 0x01 to 0x02 usually takes effect within one epoch, meaning it’s applied in about 10 minutes at most.Select one or more source validators, and a single destination validator with 0x02 credentials.
Review the details, sign the transactions, and approve the consolidation:
You’ll be able to track the hash on Beaconcha.in.
💡 Keep in mind that this process involves a voluntary exit, followed by a withdrawal and a new deposit, all subject to the network’s queue mechanisms and limits. For this reason, consolidation can take several days to complete, depending on overall network activity and the number of validators entering or exiting simultaneously.
Why is consolidation important after Pectra?
If you’re not yet familiar with the changes introduced by Pectra, we break it all down in our analysis of the Ethereum Pectra upgrade. In short, consolidating validators helps you:
- Reduce operational complexity: Fewer nodes make daily management easier and reduce technical risks.
- Save on resources: It lowers infrastructure needs and reduces electricity and hardware consumption.
- Improve control and traceability: Consolidating validators means fewer addresses and fewer withdrawals to track, enhancing transparency over your funds and movements.
- Optimize rewards: Consolidation allows for auto-compounding, meaning you can automatically reinvest rewards to maximize gains.
Frequently asked questions about validator consolidation
What does it mean to consolidate validators in Ethereum?
Consolidating validators means merging several active validators (each with 32 ETH or more) into a single one, transferring their balance to the destination validator. This reduces the total number of nodes you operate.
Why can only validators with 0x02 credentials be consolidated?
Only validators with 0x02 withdrawal credentials can make partial or full withdrawals to an execution address.
- If your validator has 0x00, you must first upgrade to 0x01 using your withdrawal signing key.
- If it’s already at 0x01, Consolideth allows you to upgrade it from 0x01 to 0x02 with a single click.
How do I upgrade my withdrawal credentials from 0x01 to 0x02?
From Consolideth, you can upgrade your 0x01 credentials directly by clicking on “Upgrade.”
Are there any limits when consolidating?
Yes. The destination validator cannot exceed 2048 ETH of effective balance after the merge.
