By staking you help decentralise and secure the DATA Network, and in return you receive passive rewards denominated in DATA tokens. Additionally you participate in the ecosystem of tokenised intellectual property.

Both validators and delegators can stake tokens to a validator. A validator can also stake to itself, this is called self-delegation.

The staking amount must be greater than 1024 DATA.

Staking on DATA means delegating your native DATA tokens to a validator to secure the network, support operations and earn rewards.

Risks include token price volatility, network slashing (e.g., due to validator downtime or mis-behaviour) and opportunity cost of locked tokens.

Users can choose between:

• Fixed-period staking, where tokens are locked for a set duration.
• Flexible staking, where tokens can be withdrawn at any time.

The Stakely validator on DATA has a commission of 5%. This commission is applied to the staking rewards, not to your staked principal. In practice, this means the commission is taken from the APR, not subtracted from it.

For example, if the network APR is 10% and the validator commission is 5%, the commission represents 5% of the rewards earned, which equals an effective reduction of 0.5% APR. Your final APR would be 9.5%, not 5%.
