Everything you need to know about Monad: The fastest and most Ethereum-compatible L1 blockchain

June 16, 2025

At Stakely, we always champion technologies that push the limits of Web3 scalability. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we are now part of the validator set on Monad’s testnet, a layer-1 (L1) blockchain built from the ground up to deliver maximum performance without sacrificing Ethereum compatibility.

What is Monad?

Monad is an L1 launched in 2022 by Keone Hon, James Hunsaker, and Eunice Giarta that’s compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). For developers, building on Monad feels just like building on Ethereum—only with superior performance.

Built from scratch in C++ and Rust, Monad offers full EVM bytecode equivalence as well as native JSON-RPC support, enabling a frictionless experience for both users and dApp developers.

With the ability to process up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS)—alongside blocks every 0.5 seconds, 1-second finality, and minimal gas fees—it’s an ideal choice for decentralized applications that demand speed, efficiency, and real scalability.

How does Monad achieve this performance?

Monad’s performance comes from five key innovations:

  1. MonadBFT: a BFT consensus algorithm with pipelining that validates multiple blocks in parallel, reducing latency. It includes built-in monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.

  2. RaptorCast: an ultra-fast broadcasting protocol that optimizes block propagation and node synchronization, eliminating bottlenecks.

  3. Asynchronous execution: decouples consensus and execution, allowing them to occur in parallel. Monad reaches consensus before execution, boosting throughput.

  4. Parallel execution: runs transactions simultaneously while preserving their original order, increasing throughput without state conflicts.

  5. MonadDB: a state database optimized for low RAM usage and high speed, inspired by the Patricia Trie—ideal for efficient global-state management.

Monad for developers

Thanks to full Ethereum ecosystem compatibility, Monad lets developers create decentralized services without friction. Why? Because it’s fully interoperable with the tools and environments you already know:

  • Works natively with Solidity, Remix, VSCode, Scaffold-Eth, Foundry, OpenZeppelin, and more.
  • Compatible with major Ethereum-ecosystem wallets such as MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Ledger, and Trezor.

As you can see, Monad is ideal for building scalable, fast, low-cost dApps without sacrificing decentralization or security.

Our experience as a Monad validator

Although we’ve only just begun, our experience as a validator on Monad’s testnet has been positive: the environment is stable, well-documented, and makes it easy to test its capabilities. Tools like monad-node, monad-db, and monad-rpc—along with automated scripts—keep node operations efficient, secure, and smooth.

We also want to highlight the rapid growth of its community—one of the most engaged in the ecosystem. We see open collaboration with developers and active feedback encouraged. Without a doubt, Monad is laying solid foundations for its future mainnet launch.

Conclusion

Monad solves the blockchain trilemma by combining massive scalability, genuine decentralization, and full Ethereum compatibility without compromising security or performance.

If you’re a dApp developer or staker looking for innovative projects within the Ethereum ecosystem, Monad is an L1 that deserves your full attention.

At Stakely, we’ll keep supporting technologies that drive Web3 forward, promoting robust, open, and community-focused networks. Start supporting the Monad ecosystem today by delegating MON with Stakely!
