Canopy is an “L1 cloud”: a framework to build sovereign blockchains (the Canopy Stack) plus a root network (the Canopy blockchain) that can provide shared security to new Nested Chains as they launch and grow.

Restaking means allocating your stake across different committees (chain IDs) to help secure multiple chains. As new Nested Chains appear, restaking can unlock additional rewards; if you don’t restake, you may see reward dilution over time.

As with any PoS network, risks can include protocol changes, reward variability, and operational risk. For validator operators, Canopy includes slashing for inactivity and double-signing. Always stake through reliable infrastructure and keep keys secure.

CNPY staking is the process of locking CNPY to help secure the Canopy ecosystem. Stakers can earn staking rewards, and Canopy is designed to extend incentives to Nested Chains through its “cross-pollinating” model.

The Stakely validator on Canopy has a commission of 0%. This commission is applied to the staking rewards, not to your staked principal. In practice, this means the commission is taken from the APR, not subtracted from it.

For example, if the network APR is 10% and the validator commission is 5%, the commission represents 5% of the rewards earned, which equals an effective reduction of 0.5% APR. Your final APR would be 9.5%, not 5%.

We keep validator commissions as low as possible to ensure strong performance, reliable infrastructure, and a sustainable operation over the long term.

When you request to unstake CNPY, your tokens are not released immediately. Canopy’s docs describe a 7-day unstaking period for validators and a 3-day period for stakers.
