Stakely will participate as a node operator in the genesis of Hoodi, Ethereum's new testnet

Stakely has been selected as one of the five node operators that will participate in the genesis of Hoodi, the new Ethereum testnet designed to replace Holesky and provide a stable and secure environment for staking tests and protocol upgrades.
Below, we explore what Hoodi is, why it is relevant, and how it will impact the Ethereum ecosystem.
Hoodi: The Ethereum testnet to complete the Pectra upgrade
Hoodi is Ethereum's new testnet, launched on March 17, 2025. Its main goal is to provide a reliable environment to test network changes before their implementation on the mainnet, with a special focus on staking and block validation.
Why is a new testnet needed?
The development of Hoodi addresses limitations found in previous testnets:
- Holesky, launched in 2023, experienced nearly two weeks of critical finalization issues, affecting network stability and delaying key tests, such as the Pectra upgrade.
- Sepolia, while useful for smart contract and dApp developers, does not provide an accurate simulation of Ethereum’s staking and consensus system.
Hoodi aims to ensure a more realistic and functional testing infrastructure, aligned with Ethereum’s evolution.
Validator distribution in Hoodi
To ensure stability and realism in testing, Hoodi's validator distribution has been carefully structured:
- Ethpandaops will manage 33% of the validators.
- The remaining 67% will be distributed among:
- 11 client teams, representing key Ethereum implementations.
- 5 node operators, with slightly smaller participation, including Stakely.
Hoodi is expected to launch with a minimum of 20 million ETH in staking, with validator balances ranging from 32 ETH to 2048 ETH, in line with EIP-7251.
Stakely: Contributing to Hoodi's success
Our participation in the genesis of Hoodi reaffirms our commitment to the evolution of Ethereum. Through our infrastructure and collaboration with key projects, we will contribute to the stability and success of this testnet.
Moreover, if everything goes well, the Pectra upgrade could be implemented on the mainnet by April 2025!
