WalTransfer: the decentralized solution for file sharing, powered by Walrus and developed by Stakely

Have you ever used WeTransfer? Then you already know how convenient it can be to send files. But... what if you could enjoy that same experience, without relying on centralized servers, with full privacy, and backed by blockchain?
At Stakely, we’ve created WalTransfer: a simple and free file-sharing tool powered by Walrus, a decentralized storage protocol built on Sui.
What is WalTransfer?
WalTransfer is a fast, secure, and decentralized tool. With it, you can upload, encrypt, and share files efficiently without compromising your privacy.
Your files are securely encrypted and temporarily stored on a distributed network of nodes — never on centralized entities. And best of all: it’s completely free!
Since it’s built on the Walrus protocol, your files are encrypted using AES-256, and the decryption key needed to download them is included in the shared URL. That means no one can access your files unless you share the encrypted link.
Plus, unlike traditional services where files can remain indefinitely, WalTransfer ensures greater security by automatically deleting any uploaded file after 14 days.
Why choose a decentralized file-sharing solution?
Unlike traditional services, WalTransfer doesn’t rely on central servers, reducing the risk of hacking, censorship, or data loss. Your files are distributed across the Walrus network nodes, and all activity is auditable on the Sui blockchain.
In short, you stay in full control of your data!
Key features of WalTransfer
- Local AES-256 encryption: your file is never unprotected.
- 20MB per file limit: ideal for documents, images, PDFs, etc.
- Easy to use: share files in seconds through a simple interface.
- True privacy: access is only granted via the encrypted link. No sign-ups, no tracking!
- Decentralized storage: uses Walrus, with no single point of failure.
- Transparency: metadata is recorded on the blockchain.
- Automatic deletion in 14 days: files are stored temporarily, with no recovery option.
- Free and accessible to everyone.
How does WalTransfer work?
WalTransfer is as simple as it is powerful:
- Upload your file (max 20MB)
You can drag and drop it or select it from your device.

- Wait a few seconds for the upload to complete

- Get an encrypted link
The file is encrypted in your browser using AES-256, and a unique link with the decryption key is generated. Without this link, no one can access it.

Share the link with anyone you want
No account, email, or authentication required. Only those with the link can access the file. The file is automatically deleted after 14 days
Once that time passes, there’s no trace of it left on the network.
Why can I only upload files up to 20MB?
Currently, WalTransfer is available for free to all users. However, Stakely and Walrus are collecting community feedback to explore versions with higher file size limits and longer storage times. Share your thoughts with us!
Who is behind WalTransfer?
Stakely, a blockchain infrastructure provider with over $1B in staked assets and support for more than 30 blockchains. We’re validators on Sui and Walrus, and we actively contribute to ecosystem development.
You can support WalTransfer’s maintenance by staking SUI and WAL with Stakely!
